The Montgomery County Police Department is in mourning after one of its retired K9 officers died Saturday night.

Retired K9 Harper passed on Sept. 10 after a serious medical emergency and suffering from complications.

Harper was the faithful partner to PO3 Chris Jordan. K9 Harper and Chris started their training in the Spring of 2014, becoming both a patrol and narcotics detector team.

During their seven years together, the duo, Chris and Harper, were responsible for several hundred deployments and close to 200 criminal apprehensions, the police department said.

"Please keep Chris and his family in your thoughts," a spokesperson wrote in a press release about the loss. "Rest in Peace, K9 Harper."
