LARGO, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince Georges County will start deploying snow crews starting at midnight on Monday morning for a full snow removal operation.
Authorities said crews will focus on the primary and major collector roadways first and then move into the residential areas to treat the roads.
Weather forecasts are predicting between six to 12 inches of rain and sleet starting early Monday morning, which will change to snow around 3 a.m.
Authorities warn that roadway conditions may become dangerous and drivers are encouraged to be careful if they have to drive.
Residents are asked to park on the even-numbered sides of residential streets or in their driveways to help the crews in the clearing the streets.
Final plowing on residential roadways will not happen until after the snow ends, authorities said. Driveways and mailboxes will have snow in front of them as a result of the plowing operation. Residents are reminded to shovel their driveways after plowing has occurred and to remove snow/ice from the sidewalks abutting their homes and businesses.
To report roadway conditions, residents are advised to wait 12 hours after the precipitation has stopped before calling CountyClick at 3-1-1 or the Snow Information Center at 301-350-0500.
