Two women with similar names are facing multiple charges after being found inside a vehicle that was reported stolen on New Year’s Day, authorities said.
Krystal Henry, 33, of Washington D.C., and Crystal Smith, 32, of Capitol Heights were pulled over in the 4800 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights on Thursday, Jan. 26, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement detectives spotted the pair in a KIA that was reported stolen from the 5900 block of Marlboro Pike on New Year’s Day, officials said.
When detectives searched the KIA, they found a loaded weapon with an obliterated serial number in Smith’s purse.
Both women face multiple charges including theft, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and a handgun-related charge.
Prince George’s County police encourage residents to consider purchasing a brake pedal club, alarm, or other theft prevention device to help prevent auto theft.
