Pregnant person assaulted in Hyattsville; Police searching for woman responsible

She left the scene in a maroon Mercedes SUV.

HYATTSVILLE, Md. — Police are searching for a woman who has been accused of assaulting a pregnant person in Prince George's County Monday evening.

Officers with the Hyattsville Police Department say the assault happened around 7:20 p.m. on America Boulevard, off of Belcrest Road, against the pregnant female, whose age is unknown. The woman then left the scene in a maroon Mercedes SUV with an unknown registration toward America Boulevard. 

The person of interest in the case has been described as a woman between 22 and 28 years old with a medium build, and having long black and blonde braids. At the time of the assault, she was wearing a black coat, a white shirt, white pants, and white Jordan 7s. 

Police are asking for the public's help identifying her. Anyone who might recognize her is asked to contact the police department's Criminal Investigations Section at (301) 985-5060.
