Police: Kidnapping of 13-year-old girl in Montgomery Co. determined to be unfounded

Detectives say there is no threat to the community or to the safety of children.

GERMANTOWN, Md. — Detectives have determined the report of a kidnapping involving a 13-year-old girl Tuesday afternoon in Germantown to be unfounded.

At 3:15 p.m., a girl reported that she was kidnapped by two men to the Montgomery County Department of Police. She told detectives that she was approached by two men in a dark grey sedan near the intersection of Waring Station Road and Stoney Bottom Road. The duo allegedly got out of the vehicle and forced her into the car.

After driving around, the girl told police that she was able to get out of the car and run near Placid Lake Terrace, off of Wisteria Drive, where she was located by a nearby resident. The girl was then taken to an area hospital by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue to be evaluated.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined that the report was unfounded and there is no threat to the community or to the safety of children.
