Glenn Dale is an unincorporated community in the county.
The pilot has been identified as Michael Paul Pillsbury, 72, of Washington, D.C. He told police he was trying to land at Freeway Airport in Bowie upon his return from Ocean City, Md.
He also told police there was no lighting and he could not see the tree line as he was approaching the airport. The aircraft made contact with the tree line and overturned.
