Free screenings for breast cancer in Maryland on Friday

The goal of the event is to move beyond "awareness" and motivate women to take charge of their overall health.

LANHAM, Md. — You can get screened for breast cancer for free on Friday in Lanham, Maryland. This is all a part of the 5th Annual Pink Ribbon Rally by the Center for Comprehensive Breast Care and Human Resources. 

The goal of the event is to move beyond "awareness" and motivate women to take charge of their overall health. Another goal is to teach women best practices to reduce the mortality rate of breast cancer.

The event is being held at Doctors Community Hospital on the top level of he Emergency Department Garage on Friday Oct. 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The address is 8118 Good Luck Road Lanham, Maryland 20706.

If you decide to come to the event, you can expect:

  • Mammograms (for those 40 and older whether you are insured or uninsured, but referrals are required.) 
  • Breast exams
  • Ask the doctor 
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Music 
  • Wellness shots 
  • Flu shots 
  • Bra fittings 
  • Games
  • Seated massages 
  • Workout sessions 
  • Glucose screenings 
  • Cholesterol screenings
