Police: Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle on Indian Head Highway

The fatal pedestrian crash happened at the intersection of Indian Head Highway and East Swann Creek Road around midnight.

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — A vehicle struck and killed a man along Indian Head Highway in Fort Washington, Md. early Sunday morning. Prince George's County detectives are investigating the circumstances.

The fatal pedestrian crash happened at the intersection of Indian Head Highway and East Swann Creek Road around midnight, police said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an unresponsive man and pronounced him dead shortly after.

Police said the striking vehicle did remain at the scene following the incident and is cooperating with investigators.

Parts of Indian Head Highway were shut down due to the investigation. As of 8 a.m. Sunday, the road has been reopened.

At this time, detectives are working to determine the details of what happened before the incident.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
