BOWIE, Md. — The Prince George’s County Fire Department is investigating a fatal fire in Bowie, Maryland.

On Thursday, just before 7 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 3700 block of Eight Penny Lane for a house fire.

Once on scene, crews found a two-story home with smoke coming out of the roof. As crews went through the home, a person was located inside. Officials say the person was found dead.

However, it is currently unknown if the person died as a result of the fire or if they were dead prior to the fire. The house fire is under investigation as officials work to determine the identity of the victim and the cause of the fire.
