9 people displaced from house fire in Laurel

When crews arrived they were met with heavy fire engulfing a 2-story home.

LAUREL, Md. — Six adults and three children have been displaced following a house fire in Laurel.

On Monday, the Prince George's County Fire Department was dispatched to the 7200 block of Carriage Hill Drive just after 5:30 p.m. When crews arrived they were met with heavy fire engulfing a 2-story home. The Montgomery County, Howard County, and Anne Arundel County Fire Department were dispatched to assist with extinguishing the fire.

Officials say firefighters were on "defensive mode" after being evacuated from the inside of the home. Once the fire was put out, crews did a sweep of the home and did not locate anyone inside.

Now Prince George's County Office of Emergency Management is assisting the family displaced by this fire.

Officials have not released the cause of the fire.
