Myles Frost moonwalked across the stage at Bowie State University

During his time as a student, he landed the leading role of "Michael Jackson" in "MJ the Musical" on Broadway.

BOWIE, Md. — A local Broadway star is adding something new to his resume -- the fact that he has now earned his college degree.

Myles Frost, a 23-year-old Prince George's County native, has graduated from college and walked across the stage, celebrating the accomplishment on Thursday.

WUSA9 has been following along with Frost's journey for several years. During his time as a student at Bowie State University, he landed the leading role of "Michael Jackson" in "MJ the Musical" on Broadway.

He went on to win a Tony Award for the role. With the win, he unseated Ben Platt as the youngest performer to win best leading man in a musical. Platt won for "Dear Evan Hansen" when he was 23, and Frost was 22 when he won.

Frost was also able to manage starring in a movie, as well as recording an album, while balancing schoolwork. On Thursday, all that work paid off as he graduated from Bowie State with a degree in fine arts with a concentration in music technology.

"I promised my grandmother... I promised her a long time ago, when I started my college journey, that I would finish regardless of whatever opportunities came my way, not knowing that the opportunities would be that massive and the achievements would be this grand," Frost said in an interview with WUSA9, while his grandmother sat right next to him, ready to see her grandson graduate.

Despite the laundry list of accomplishments, Frost isn't slowing down anytime soon. He heads overseas in just a few weeks to do "MJ the Musical" in London. Then his movie "Origin", where he plays Trayvon Martin, hits theaters in January. His album is also coming out in 2024.
