ASPEN HILL, Md. — Montgomery County police said they are investigating a video posted on Twitter that shows an officer using what appears to be excessive force against a man who is detained on the ground.
Police on Twitter said the incident happened in the Aspen Hill Shopping Center in the 4th District and that they have identified the officers involved. It's unclear what day and time the incident happened, or the details surrounding it.
One video -- posted on Twitter Wednesday night -- shows a man face down on the ground being detained. He is surrounded by what appears to be several officers. The detained man appears to be using obscenities toward the officers when one of them slams his knee into the back of the man's neck before that same officer lifts the detained man's shirt over his bloodied face. The video abruptly ends.
WUSA9 has independently confirmed the person who posted the video from Wednesday night is not the same person who took the video. And so, we have opted not to show it until we receive permission from the owner of the video.
Officials said they are investigating and ask anyone with information to call police.
