Germantown Library hosting MoComCon 2024 this month

The event will celebrate all things comics, graphic novels, and fandoms.

GERMANTOWN, Md. — Love all things comics and graphic novels? Well, mark your calendar and set your reminder – an event just for you is returning to the DMV this month.

MoComCon, an all-day, all-ages event, will take place on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Germantown Library, which is located at 19840 Century Boulevard. The event will celebrate all things comics, graphic novels, and fandoms.

Here's the schedule of events for MoComCon 2024:

    • Location: Black Rock Center for the Arts Main Stage
    • Time: 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
  • Sci-Fi Workshop
    • Location: Germantown Library Upstairs Quiet Study Room
    • Time: 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
  • Superhero Storytime
    • Location: Germantown Library  Downstairs Meeting Room
    • Time: 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.
  • Bomani Armah Storytelling
    • Location: Black Rock Center for the Arts Kay Gallery
    • Time: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Superhero Storytime
    • Location: Germantown Library  Downstairs Meeting Room
    • Time: 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Show Us Your Gems  featuring David “D-Stroy “Melendez
    • Location: Germantown Library Children’s Open Space
    • Time: 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
  • Cosplay 101 Panel
    • Location: Black Rock Center for the Arts Main Stage

  • Superhero Dance Party

  • Manga Drawing Workshop

  • Pokémon Card Trading
    • Location: Germantown Library Children’s Program Room
    • Time: 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m.
  • Cosplay Parade (pre-registration required, first 30 children)
    • Location: Black Rock Center for the Arts Main Stage
    • Time: 3:30 p.m.-3:45 p.m.
  • Cosplay Contest for Teens and Adults (pre-registration required for first 20 teens and first 20 adults)
    • Location: Black Rock Center for the Arts Main Stage
    • Time: 3:45 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

At Black Rock Center for the Arts Main Stage and Germantown Library there will be all-day events, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., happening as well, such as book sales, anime viewing, vendors, and more.

There will also be a cosplay contest, which is open to ages 13 and up. Entry forms are being accepted at Black Rock Center for the Arts, just adjacent to the library, starting at 1:30 p.m. The lineup is at 3:15 p.m., and is limited to the first 20 entries in each age group.
