SILVER SPRING, Md. — The family of a missing Maryland man with Down syndrome is finally whole again. Rashawn Williams, has been located safely.
Rashawn Williams, 31, who is nonverbal, left the Residence Inn on Plum Orchard Drive in Silver Spring around 6:20 p.m. on Friday, October 20.
Williams' family says he was temporarily living at the Residence Inn with his caregivers while their group home undergoes repairs.
"He ran away from the staff and got on a Metro bus, the R2 and we don't know where he exited," Williams' father Jimmy Hall told WUSA9 at the bus routes' final stop.
The R2 Metrobus route has 57 stops starting in Eastern Montgomery County. It goes through Prince George's County and ends at the Fort Totten Metro Station in Northeast D.C.
On Wednesday, police released surveillance footage showing Williams leaving Glenmont Metro Station on 12500 block of Georgia Avenue.
In the video you can see Williams exiting the train, going up the escalator and leaving the station behind another passenger. Now, it appears Rashawn may not have left the station at all.
Police have not confirmed where Rashawn was found, but Hall told WUSA9 he was found inside a room in the Glenmont Metro Station by Montgomery County Police.
Hall said Rashawn was taken to the hospital for evaluation and is back home with his family Friday morning.
