BETHESDA, Md. — An arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing of a 46-year-old man from Bethesda, Maryland. Montgomery County Police have charged 20-year-old Sergio Elysee Koyangbo with first-degree murder in the death of his stepfather, David Beasley.
Police said Beasley was stabbed to death inside a home on the 5600 block of Lambeth Road in Bethesda on Sunday, March 6. Police were called to the incident around 9:30 p.m. to investigate.
Once officers arrived to the scene, they discovered Beasley with apparent stab wounds and attempted life-saving measures until the Montgomery County Fire Rescue arrived, according to police. Beasley was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
According to charging documents, officers did find a knife on the stairs leading up to the front door as they made their way into the home.
The investigation is ongoing and is being treated as a homicide, police said. Additionally, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to examine the manner and cause of death, according to police.
The events leading up to the stabbing remain unclear.
Montgomery County Judge Sherri Kock ordered Koyangbo to be held without bond, according to officials. A preliminary hearing is set for April 1 at 8:30 a.m. Assistant State's Attorneys Donna Fenton and Adrienne Ferrell are prosecuting the case, according to officials.
