MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Police are investigating after a man was stabbed to death after an argument on a Metrobus in Montgomery County Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the area of University Boulevard and Amherst Street near the Wheaton Metro Station just before 12:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a man had been stabbed. The man was taken to an area hospital for help in critical condition where he later died.
The victim has since been identified as 28-year-old Amontae Robert Cunningham of Rockville.
Investigators believe the stabbing happened after an argument between Cunningham and another man on a Metrobus. After Cunningham got off the bus on Amherst Ave. police say the suspect followed him off the bus and stabbed him. The person responsible for the attack ran away before officers arrived.
No suspect information is available at this time.
Less than two months ago, a 19-year-old was killed after he was shot inside a Metrobus in Montgomery County. The person who shot Justice T'Ziyan Elliott to death has not been found.
