2 charged in shooting of security guards at Cadillac Ranch Bar & Grill

The good times at a National Harbor hot spot came to an abrupt end when an unruly patron shot two security guards after a dispute over a bar tab.

OXON HILL, Md. (WUSA9) — UPDATE: Artis Montana of Waldorf and Tony Irene Marie Smith have been charged in the National Harbor restaurant shooting. They were caught in a nearby hotel. This is the first incident of its kind in the National Harbor's 10-year-history.

ORIGINAL STORY: The good times at a National Harbor hot spot came to an abrupt end when an unruly patron shot two security guards after a dispute over a bar tab.

According to Officer Ameera Abdullah, spokeswoman for the Prince George's County Police Department, a suspect was being escorted out of Cadillac Ranch Bar & Grill around 12:45 a.m., when he brandished a small handgun and fired, striking two people.

Joey Hines, a sous chef working at the restaurant at the time of the shooting, said the suspect was "trying to walk out on his bill, a security guard tried to stop him ... then at the front door they exchanged words, he turned around and shot him. One bullet shot two guards."

Officer Abdullah said both victims were taken the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries have been reported.

Abdullah said the suspect ran from the scene. Prince George's County Police conducted a search of the area and found the suspect a short distance form the restaurant. He has been taken into custody and is being questioned.
