SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Montgomery County Police Department says it is investigating a fatal collision between a Ride On bus and a pedestrian in Silver Spring early Saturday morning.
Officers from the department’s 3rd District responded along with Montgomery County Fire & Rescue responded to the intersection of Second Avenue and Colesville Road just before 2 a.m. Saturday morning for a report of a collision involving a pedestrian.
They arrived to find one adult male who was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to police, subsequent investigation determined the man had been struck by a Ride On bus, although the circumstances were unknown. After the collision, the Ride On bus left the scene. Police said it was unclear whether the bus driver was aware of the collision.
Ride On is managed by the Montgomery Count Department of Transportation as the county’s primary public transportation system. The intersection where the collision occurred is just next to the Silver Spring Metro Station and transit center.
Police were not describing the collision as a hit-and-run – saying the incident was still under investigation.
On Tuesday, police identified the man killed as 29-year-old Mohammed Y. Ramadhan from Silver Spring.
Anyone with information about the collision was asked to contact the department at 240-773-6620.
