CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — A late New Year's Eve shooting left a man dead in Capitol Heights, sparking a homicide investigation.
Officers with the Prince George's County Police Department responded to Dunbar Oaks Drive, off of Addison Road, around 10:30 p.m. after a report for the sound of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, they found a man, later identified as 36-year-old Nelson Bonilla-Reyes, of Capitol Heights, outside suffering from injuries sustained in the shooting.
He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, but he was later pronounced dead.
Detectives are working to establish a person of interest and motive in the deadly shooting case. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
