Man charged for shooting 19-year-old sitting in vehicle to death in Charles County

He is being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center.

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — A 23-year-old man has been arrested for shooting and killing a 19-year-old who was sitting in a vehicle in Waldorf on Oct. 23.

Around 2:17 p.m. the Prince George's County Police Department received a report of a shooting. The caller, who was in the vehicle with the person who was shot, informed officers that the person was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Through an investigation, it was determined that the shooting happened on Albemarle Place, near Berry Road, in Waldorf. After this was revealed, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) took over the investigation.

Officers determined that while sitting in a vehicle on Albemarle Place, 19-year-old Aden Christopher Garcia was shot at several times and was ultimately struck. He was treated at a hospital but later died due to his injuries on Oct. 24.

The sheriff's office, through an investigation, identified Johntez Dorsey as the suspect in the case and on Dec. 16 he was taken into custody. Dorsey has been charged with murder, according to officers. A judge also ordered him to be held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective A. Worley at 301-609-6518 or WorleyA@ccso.us. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous should contact Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. This investigation is ongoing.
