MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — A Maryland man is facing charges in connection to a 2022 crash that left a woman dead.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, 22-year-old Kelvy Jose, Jr., was arrested Friday and charged with criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle. The charges stem from a crash that happened on October 12, 2022.
Investigators say shortly before 9:15 a.m., Jose was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado near the intersection of Randolph Road and Hammonton Place in Silver Spring. For some reason, Jose reportedly crossed into eastbound traffic and hit a 2006 Honda CRV head-on. The crash left the woman driving the Honda, 29-year-old Ambar Aida Rivera Membreno, dead.
Following an investigation, police discovered Jose was driving with an expired learner’s permit and was distracted at the time of the collision.
Jose is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit pending a bond review.
