WASHINGTON — Kaden Holland, aka "Baby K," appeared in court Thursday to accept a plea deal related to an attack on a fellow student on a Prince George's County school bus last year.
Holland, 16, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and use of a handgun. The deal included a 60-year sentence, with all but 25 years suspended. He will serve the sentence at a “youth offender” for young adults program at Patuxent Institution in Maryland.
Investigators say Holland was only 15 years old when he tried to shoot a middle schooler in the head on May 1, 2023, allegedly pulling the trigger three times. Prosecutors say the gun misfired, saving the student's life. Video of the attack shows a teenager holding a gun to the victim's head and chest while his two accomplices hold the victim down. All three teens then beat the victim and fled.
The other two suspects were taken into custody shortly after the attack but Holland managed to evade arrest for weeks. He was eventually taken into custody on May 30.
Holland and the two other teens were indicted as adults in June for their alleged involvement in the school bus attack.
Despite Holland's attorney attempting to move the case to juvenile courts, a judge ruled the teen would be tried as an adult earlier this month.
