BETHESDA, Md. — A crash in Montgomery County, involving multiple vehicles and a tractor-trailer, has caused multiple lanes on I-495 to close during the Tuesday morning commute. Drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.
Officials Montgomery County Fire responded around 2:30 a.m. to the outer loop of the I-495 beltway, nearby River Road and MacArthur Boulevard, after a report of the collision. Upon arrival at the location, several vehicles were found involved in the crash including the tractor-trailer that was flipped on its side.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services evaluated several patients at the location, and the truck driver was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
As of 8:30 a.m., the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC) says all travel lanes are reopened to traffic. Previously three lanes were closed and caused major delays.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
