PISCATAWAY, Md. — A Prince George's County firefighter was taken to the hospital and a family of five relocated on Thursday after a mansion caught on fire in Piscataway.

The damage from the fire cost around $750,000, according to Prince George's Fire Department.

The fire burned so intensely inside the house that firefighters had to move their efforts outside.

"When crews arrived on scene they found fire coming through the roof," Prince George's County Fire Department said on Thursday. "When they began an interior attack they realized they were in a potential collapse zone and evacuated."

The house is on the 14000 block of Livingston Road, the family that lived inside had to relocate. Firefighters were unsure Thursday afternoon whether anyone was inside the house during the fire.

The firefighter had "minor injuries," according to PGFD.
