RIVERDALE PARK, Md. — Six Prince George's County firefighters are recovering after the fire truck that they were in overturned while they were on their way to a fire late Sunday night.
Just before 11 p.m., a fire truck with the Prince George's County Fire and EMS Department's College Park station overturned on Good Luck Road at Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale Park. It happened while they were responding to a structure fire.
All six firefighters that were riding the fire truck were taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that officials say are considered to be minor. All six firefighters were treated and released Monday morning. No other vehicles were involved.
Around 5 a.m. on Monday, a Pepco crew member told WUSA9's Randi Ayala that they have been there for around five hours, and are unsure when they are going to be finished. They are expected to be in the area of where the truck overturned at least through 7 a.m. The crews are working to restore a pole in the in the area. The crew member also stated that there are a few people waking up without power Monday morning, causing minor impacts in the area.
The truck was towed away from the location.
At the time of the crash, it is known that it was foggy, the roads were wet, and officials are working to determine if weather played a role in it. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of why the truck overturned.
