Fire officials investigate a fatal fire in Fredrick Co.

MYERSVILLE, Md. — The Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a fatal fire that took place over the weekend.

Calls came in just before 9:15 p.m. for reports of a house fire. Crews from the Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services were dispatched. They arrived to the 11000 block of Highland School Road in Myersville, Maryland where they found a mobile home engulfed in flames.

Crews were alerted that there could be someone inside of the home and they began to extinguish the fire. After containing enough of the fire, crews began searching the home for any occupants. 

They located one person unconscious. First responders rendered aid, but unfortunately it was too late. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is working to identify the victim and notify any next of kin.

According to reports, it took nearly 35 firefighters from multiple counties and about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire. 

There were no damages reported to any other structures in the area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage is estimated at $100,000.
