GREATER LANDOVER, Md. — Multiple shooters fired dozens of gunshots in a Greater Landover neighborhood - all aimed at one man running for his life.
Most of the bullets fired near the intersection of Stoddert Lane and Pinebrook Road struck parked cars and homes throughout the neighborhood. Police say at least one shot hit the man.
"The shots were all over the place. I got five in my house," said one neighbor caught in the line of fire who was at home with his wife, their daughter and grandson.
They asked that their names not be used out of fear for their own safety. They showed WUSA9 where the bullets tore through multiple walls inside their home.
"My wife was in the kitchen and one did come through the front door," the man said.
"I'm just glad my guests weren't here that next day," his wife said after hosting family the day before.
Prince George's County police say it was just before 9 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving in this Greater Landover neighborhood near Landover Road and John Hanson Highway when several shooters got out of a parked vehicle and opened fire on a man walking through the neighborhood.
Doorbell video shows a woman walking a dog diving for cover in the middle of it all.
Police say the man who was hit eventually made it to a hospital in critical condition.
"Very bold to do that in broad daylight like that," said the man whose home was one of those hit. He and other neighbors believe the shooters came from somewhere else.
Doorbell video shows them parked and waiting for nearly an hour before opening fire and then driving off.
"Everybody in the neighborhood was lucky. Including the person that was running," the homeowner said.
Neighbors also say they do not think the man who was running from the gunfire was from this area either. They say he was seen with a suitcase and a car with out-of-state plates.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
