SILVER SPRING, Md. — A Starbucks in Downtown Silver Spring will close its doors for good at the end of the month. A spokesperson for the coffee company confirmed the closure on Tuesday.
According to the spokesperson, the Starbucks located at 915 Ellsworth Drive, next to Potbelly Sandwich Shop in the Downtown Silver Spring shopping center, will have its last day of business on March 30. In a statement, Starbucks would not give a specific reason for the store's closure.
"As part of Starbucks standard course of business, we continually evaluate our business to ensure a healthy store portfolio. After careful consideration, we’ve determined it is best to close the store at 915 Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring," the statement reads, in part.
The company spokesperson said employees at the Downtown Silver Spring location will have an opportunity to transfer to nearby locations in the area. There is another Starbucks store located in The Blairs shopping center on East-West Highway, less than a mile away.
"We look forward to continuing to serve the Silver Spring community and encourage our customers to visit us at our other stores in the area," the spokesperson said.
