LAUREL, Md. — Two people are dead after an early Tuesday shooting inside a recording studio in Laurel.
Officers with the Laurel Police Department responded to Lafayette Avenue, not far from the Laurel Shopping Center, just before 1:35 a.m. after a report of a confirmed shooting. That's near the 2nd Ave Thrift Shop and the Dutch Company Farmer's Market.
Upon arrival, they found two people who were suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigators initially said the shooting happened at TrackHouse Studios, but now say they are still working to confirm the name of the space.
One person was pronounced dead at the location, while the second person was taken to the hospital to be treated, but they died there. No information has been released about the two people, this includes their names, ages, and where they are from.
A third person took themselves to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries, but no details have been released about their condition at this time. No identifying information has been released about this victim either.
Assistant Police Chief Mark Plazinski told WUSA9 the investigation is still in its early stages.
"What were learning is that there were two groups inside the studio, there was some sort of dispute or argument, and it developed into the shooting," Plazinski said.
Officers were interviewing witnesses at the scene early Tuesday to try to determine who fired the shots, and bring them into custody.
The police department is encouraging anyone with any information, or who may have witnessed this event, to please contact The Laurel Police Department at 301-498-0092, or anonymous tips can also be sent to LPDtips@laurel.md.us.
