FAIRLAND, Md. — A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on Columbia Pike in Montgomery County early Wednesday morning. Police say the man on the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Police Department, the crash was first reported just before 1:30 a.m., near the intersection of Columbia Pike and Fairfield Road. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the man dead. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Investigators are still working to learn what led up to the deadly collision.
The motorcyclist has not yet been identified by police and additional details were not immediately available.
Southbound lanes of Columbia Pike were closed at Musgrove Road while the crash investigation was underway. All lanes have reopened to traffic as of 6 a.m.
