BRANDYWINE, Md. — One woman has died and another has been hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash in Prince George's County late Wednesday night.
Officers with Maryland State Police responded to Northbound Branch Avenue and Earnshaw Drive in Brandywine shortly after 11:30 p.m. after a report of a multiple-vehicle crash in the area. Upon arrival, they found the two vehicles involved.
Through an initial investigation, police were able to determine that a Hyundai was traveling southbound on Branch Avenue at Earnshaw Drive when the driver was attempting to make a left turn. It was then when it was struck by a BMW.
There were two women inside of the BMW at the time of the crash. The passenger, identified as 34-year-old Nickita Sammy, of Accokeek, was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle, identified solely as being a woman, was taken to a Baltimore trauma center to be treated for critical injuries sustained.
The driver and only person in the BMW was uninjured as a result of the crash.
State Police say the cause of the crash is under investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the Crash Team will submit their finds to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, who will decide if charges should be filed in this case.
