BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — Crews have contained a large brush fire that broke out in Baltimore County Tuesday afternoon.

According to a spokesperson with the Baltimore County Fire Department (BCFD), as of 7:45 p.m., the 8-alarm brush fire was around 60-70% contained.

Nearly 30 homes were evacuated as crews continued to fight the flames.

More than 200 firefighters from across the region worked  to contain the brush fire.

People were also asked to avoid the 5100 block of Deer Park Road in the Soldiers Delight area as the fire continued to "spread rapidly," according to BCFD.

Officials have not released any information regarding what may have caused the fire to spark nor how many acres have burned.
