Brush fires reported in Capitol Heights

Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department responded to the area of Pennsylvania Avenue and Southern Avenue.

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — Several brush fires were reported in Capitol Heights by the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

Crews are working to extinguish the fires in the area of Pennsylvania Avenue and Southern Avenue according to a post on X, formerly Twitter. PGFD said both roads are closed and encouraged the public to look out for emergency responders in the area. 

It is not yet known what caused the brush fires or how long the roadways will be shut down. It is also not confirmed how many fires occurred in the area, how many crew members responded or if there are any injuries or damage related to the brush fires.
