MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Authorities with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded to a Rockville, Maryland park Tuesday morning after receiving a report of a body in the pond.

According to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer, the department responded to Redgate Park, on Avery Road and near Southlawn Lane, around 10:07 a.m. after a report of person or body in the pond with possible water rescue needed.

Less than 10 minutes later, Piringer stated that the incident was not a rescue, but they were assisting the police department with a body recovery.

At the scene, officers located a woman dead in the pond.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death.

Authorities say there does not appear to be an immediate threat to the public.

The investigation into this case remains active and ongoing.
