KENSINGTON, Md. — Police are investigating after two auto body workers were robbed at gunpoint in Kensington.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, the robbery happened at a shop in the 4100 block of Howard Avenue on December 28, 2023.
Investigators say officers were called to the show shortly after 7 p.m. When officers arrived, two men explained that they had been working on a car in the driveway of the auto body shop when a stranger walked up and robbed them at gunpoint.
The two men handed over what they had and the suspect left.
Detectives reviewed surveillance video and released images of the suspect Friday. In the video, the suspect walks up to the men and asks how things are going before pulling a large gun from his waistband. After demanding money and cell phones, the suspect can be heard telling the two men to sit on the ground. He tells the men to wait for two minutes, then claims to have friends outside and threatens to shoot the victims.
"Do not do anything stupid," the suspect can be heard saying in the video. "My friends are in the outside, I'll shoot you if you get up."
The suspect is described as a heavy-set man wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, a black cap, black pants and black shoes.
