Maryland leaders hold 2nd Annual Youth Arts Summit and Entertainment Event

Prince George's County leaders say the event was a good way for teens to explore their passion and find their purpose.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Saturday, dozens of talented teens from Maryland came together to learn and celebrate art at the annual Youth Arts Summit and Entertainment Event.

“Often times, young people want us to see them, see who they are and this is a good way to do that.” Aisha Braveboy,  Prince George's County State’s Attorney said.

The day was filled with workshops, panel discussions, live performances, and hands-on experience, led by industry experts.

“A lot of these kids are growing up like I did. I look and I see the next State’s Attorney, the next business owner, leader. These kids are our future and I’m happy to be here to support them.”

Exiej is one of the performers. He’s had a challenging artistic journey after being diagnosed with chronic asthma. He now wants to encourage other people to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles.

“I’ve been doing this for a decade and ever since then, I had a severe illness, chronic asthma. It was really had to adapt to my body and how to play the saxophone. It was difficult. I was like, how can I get through this and this setback and adversity in my life.” Exiej said.

Prince George's County leaders say the event was a good way for teens to explore their passion and find their purpose.

“And don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t achieve. They can do anything they want to do.” Braveboy said.
