OXON HILL, Md. — Prince George's County unveiled a new American Job Center at the National Harbor Tuesday to serve over 10,000 residents seeking employment and businesses every year.
The center, located in the Tanger Outlets shopping center, will provide programs for graduating high schoolers, college seniors, residents who need public assistance, residents seeking to increase their employability and residents seeking employment.
Several nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and community-based organizations will be housed in the center, officials said. Their goal will be to provide workforce development and educational services to residents living in Southern Prince George's County.
Employ Prince George's, the County's workforce development agency, secured $1 million in funding to build the center with the help of the Office of the County Executive, County Council, and the Local Development Council.
The American Job Center at National Harbor is the first location to open in Southern Prince George's County and the first to open in the County since 2008, according to a press release from Employ Prince George's.
