MARYLAND -- An amendment that would create an education lockbox, requiring the state to provide gambling money for school funding, passes on Tuesday night.
Question 1 on the ballot asked voters about education-gaming revenues.
The question comes after money from legalized gambling in the state was meant to go towards education was put into a general fund for infrastructure, state workers, police and more.
Now, thanks to the ballot question, the state must use 100% of its gambling money to increase school funding within five years.
