Police have identified two men were found fatally shot in a parking lot of an apartment complex in District Heights early Thursday morning.
The incident happened around 12:55 a.m. Officers with the City of District Heights Police Department got a call for the sound of gunshots in the 6600 block of Atwood Street at the Woodland Springs Apartment Complex.
When they got to the scene they found two men in their late 20s, lying in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They were both pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The victims have been identified as Phillip Michael, 34, of 13th Street in Southeast, D.C. and Kenneth Edmonds, 31, of Atwood Street in District Heights.
The investigation shows that there were two groups of people having a verbal altercation outside.
