CALVERT COUNTY, Md. — Two dogs are dead and a man is injured after a kennel caught fire in Calvert County, Maryland Thursday night.
The fire sparked in the 850 block of Chippingwood Drive in Port Republic around 8:15 p.m.
According to Calvert County Fire, when crews arrived, they found a home in a wooded area with dog kennels outside the home. Multiple kennels had caught fire causing two dogs to die and a third dog was injured.
A man was also injured in the fire. He was taken to an area hospital with burns and is expected to survive.
Five volunteer fire departments responded to the emergency, four from Calvert County and one from Charles County.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshall.
