FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — Police have arrested two men in connection to a deadly double shooting at Old Fort Hills Park in Fort Washington.
According to the Prince George's County Police Homicide Unit, Maryland-National Capital Park Police responded to the park around 4 p.m. on Friday for reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found 30-year-old Desmond Thomas, who had been shot and stabbed. Thomas died at the park. A second shooting victim was also located at the park and taken to an area hospital for help. He is expected to survive.
Investigators claim 54-year-old Kenneth Elwood Smith and 18-year-old Lamont Scott assaulted Thomas during an argument. Neither of them knew Thomas before they reportedly killed him.
Smith has been charged with second-degree murder and related charges and Scott faces first-degree murder and other related charges. Both are in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
