A man was arrested for allegedly impersonating a police officer in the City of Manassas, authorities said.

On Nov. 23, Manassas City police responded to the 9400 block of West Street in Manassas, Virginia, where they met a couple stating a man, who was identified as Christopher Morneau, 27, of Manassas, was claiming to be a police officer around 6:30 p.m.

The couple also informed police that Morneau approached them, showed a business card belonging to the Manassas City Police Department, and claimed he was in law enforcement, officials said in a press release.

Shortly after the incident, Morneau was eventually found near the location and was arrested, police said. Officers also discovered Morneau had allegedly approached other people in the area of Old Town, telling them he was a police officer.

Morneau has been charged with impersonating a police officer, obstruction of justice, and being intoxicated in public.

He was being held without bond. A court date is pending.
