RICHMOND, Va. (WUSA9) — Four individuals have been charged with illegally dumping deer carcasses outside of the historic First Sycolin Baptist Church and African-American Cemetery in Leesburg, Va.
The incidents first started during the 2016-2017 hunting season, when bags of deer parts and carcasses were left on the property of the church.
They were reported to the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, who led the investigation.
This continued later into October 2017, when the DGIF teamed up with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office to apprehend the perpetrators.
Throughout the investigation, it was discovered that between 50 and 60 carcasses were dumped overall.
Paul David Cadwell, Jared Daniel Miller, James Coniff Myer and Cody Alan Myers were all charged with Class 1 to Class 3 misdemeanors. They face up to one year in jail and/or approximately $2,500 in fines.
