LANDOVER HILLS, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County police say a stolen SUV caught fire after crashing into a McDonald's drive-thru early Tuesday morning.

Around 5:11 a.m., police responded to the McDonald's in the 6200 block of Annapolis Road where they found an adult male who had crashed an SUV in the driver-thru. The SUV caught fire and was quickly extinguished.

At the same time, police say they received a call for a carjacking in the the 7000 block of Annapolis Road.

Police say the victim of the carjacking was sitting at the intersection of Annapolis Road and 71st Avenue when he was approached by a suspect who asked for a ride. When the victim said no, police say the suspect implied he had a weapon.

The victim jumped out of the SUV and ran away. Police say the suspect jumped into the SUV and drove down Annapolis Road, hitting a mini-van.

Police say the minivan followed the SUV. It's unclear what happened, but police say the SUV, the minivan and one other vehicle crashed in the Capital Plaza Mall McDonald's drive-thru. One vehicle and the drive-thru window caught fire.

The adult male was taken into custody. One person was taken to the hospital.

There was no one inside the McDonald's at the time of the crash. The restaurant is closed and it is unclear where it will reopen.

Police say they're not sure what the suspect's intentions were and charges are pending.
