FAIRFAX, Va. — It is often said, "A dog is the only thing on Earth that loves you more than he/she loves himself/herself," and people always express how a dog changed their life.
In this regard, The Longest Day Alzheimer's Association included a group of furry friends from the Maryland-based Pets on Wheels nonprofit, to accompany patients in an outdoor therapy session like no other.
The senior living community in Fairfax, Virginia, added this new program allowing dogs to nurture and foster movement for people living with dementia and Alzheimer's.
Rosie, Peter, and Leyla are some of the new friends patients made, and according to The Longest Day Alzheimer's Association, "the dogs bring so much joy."
This new program at The Longest Day Alzheimer's Association provides companionship and improves the quality of life at the Fairfax nursing institution. Whether it is about combating loneliness, helping the ill, or minimizing stress, dogs undoubtedly help people feel a new type of love and energy.
Pet visitation is proven to provide a calming effect for people, and thus, nobody could disagree one's day changes after hugging these animals with paw-sitive vibes.
