GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA9) -- Greenbelt police say they believe a man wanted in connection with the murder of his girlfriend has fled the country, possibly to Mexico.
Police said they found the body of a critical missing 28-year-old woman from Greenbelt, Md. on Friday at 4 p.m., who was last seen on Monday in company of her boyfriend.
We're told investigators are currently working with the U.S. Marshal's service in regards to the case.
Police said Emilia Arabelly Ignacio's body was found inside of the vehicle, a red 2007 Nissan Altima, connected to the missing woman in the area of Frankfort Drive and Frankfort Court.
Authorities said Ignacio had several stab wounds to the upper torso area.
Police said Ignacio was last seen on April 21 with her boyfriend, Juan Miguel Roman, 34. Police said Saturday arrest warrants have been obtained charging Roman with first degree murder and second degree murder in connection to the death. He was last believed to be operating a red 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Maryland tags 1AG9751.
Authorities said her family reported her as missing on Wednesday evening after not hearing from her or her boyfriend and not being able to get in touch with her.
Recent text messages that were sent by her boyfriend to a family member of the victim, may have indicated that she was in danger, authorities said.
Her boyfriend is described as a Hispanic man, and is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
