Woman is 6th charged in Md. kidnapping, robbery case

Frederick police arrested a woman on Monday in connection with an armed robbery and kidnapping that occurred in January.
Mera Fraley charged wtih armed robbery, robbery, first degree assault, theft less than $1000 and other charges

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Frederick police arrested a woman on Monday in connection with an armed robbery and kidnapping that occurred in January.

Mera Nichole Fraley of Rocky Ridge, Md. is the sixth person to be arrested for the crime, which happened in the area of E 16th Street and N. East Street in Frederick, say police.

Darryl Lee Cooke Jr, Tayquan Cornell Palmer, Jerrell Isaiah Smith, Najee Edward Dawson, and Hailee Lynn Baker have also been charged in the case.

A grand jury returned an indictment charging Fraley with her involvement in March. Police arrested her Monday in Washington, D.C. over the weekend. Fraley was also wanted by the Frederick Police Department on two other outstanding warrants after failing to appear in court for charges of Drug Possession and Theft. Those warrants were also served on Fraley at the time of arrest.

The charges against Fraley include:

  • (2) Counts of robbery
  • (1) Count of 1st degree assault
  • (1) Count of theft less than $1000
  • (1) Conspiracy to commit armed robbery
  • (1) Conspiracy to commit robbery
  • (1) Conspiracy to commit 1st degree assault
  • (1) Conspiracy to commit theft less than $1000

After an extradition hearing, Frederick Police detectives took custody of Fraley Monday evening and transported her to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. She is being held there pending an initial appearance, according to police.
