FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. -- A woman charged with killing her mother and sister in their McLean home was appointed a public defender Wednesday.
Megan Hargan, 35, staged the scene to look like a murder-suicide, say Fairfax County police. She was arrested in West Virginia on November 2, 2018 after a 16-month investigation. She was extradited from West Virginia on Monday.
Hargan is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony in the July 2017 fatal shooting of her mother, Pamela Hargan, 63, and sister Helen Hargan, 23.
Hargan’s next court hearing will be December 7 at 9 AM. Prosecutors asked the judge to plan for a four- week murder trial.
