FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) -- A homeless man was charged with destruction of property after living in a 15-foot-deep man-made cave in a Fairfax park.

Fairfax County police say Yosue Joel Rios, 25, dug a tunnel and had been living in a two-room cave at Van Dyck Park located at 3720 Old Lee Highway in Fairfax.

A woman reported finding the covered cave on Dec. 13. When investigators arrived at the park, they found various items including a pillow and other personal belongings inside of the cave.

Rios then arrived at the scene and when he told officers that he did indeed live inside of the cave, he was arrested and charged with destruction of property.

Rios was also found to be wanted for failure to appear on a traffic charge in Arlington County. He is still in police custody because of that outstanding charge.

The Department of Public Works has been contacted in order to fill Rios' cave.
