Fairfax Co. Police asks for help identifying man found dead

Police say the man was found in the vestibule of an apartment complex on Argyle Drive in Baileys Crossroads, in April.

BAILEY'S CROSSROADS, Va. — Fairfax County Police need your help. They're trying to identify a man, who reportedly died in April.

On April 6, police say they were called to an apartment building on Argyle Drive, near Carlyn Court in Bailey's Crossroads.

"They responded to a report of an individual who was unresponsive and laying inside the vestibule of the apartment building," said Major Daniel Spital, from the Fairfax County Police Department's Major Crimes Bureau.

He says the man was pronounced dead at the scene, but unfortunately they haven't been able to identify him.

Police say he's appears to be 30-40 years old, about 5'5 and weighs 170 lbs.

"It's been almost two months now. Our detectives have canvassed the area. We had a sketch done. We've gone to the neighborhood we've gone to the community. We've knocked on doors. We've tried to make contact with anyone in the area just to see if anyone knows this person. Unfortunately our attempts so far have been unsuccessful. We're coming to the media, coming to the community really to try to do right by the decedent," said Major Spital.

Police say they're still waiting on the final medical examiners report, but do not believe there was foul play involved.

"There was no trauma, nothing in the area that we would think there was suspected foul play. A lot of times the scene will tell us what we need to know and unfortunately the scene didn't. We just had an individual deceased in a hallway," said Spital.

WUSA9 asked how they can be sure there was no foul play, especially given the man's presumed age.

"Certainly 30 to 40 years of age is certainly not an age where we would expect someone to pass away from natural causes. While there might be something at play, we don't think drugs or alcohol were at play, but we don't believe that anyone intentionally harmed this individual," said Spital.

He told WUSA9 that's why it's so important for them to identify this man.

"We're confident that someone knows who he is and we're just asking for their help," said Spital.
